There is so much happening just in time for Spooky Season in Hillsborough! Mark your calendars for these hauntingly fun events!
October 18: The Haunting Hour at the Hillsborough Visitor Center (2–9 pm)
Step into the shadows of Hillsborough’s past at The Haunting Hour, a brand-new twist on the beloved Spirits Tours. This immersive evening of ghostly storytelling unfolds at the historic Hughes Academy, brought to life in partnership with the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough and the Orange Community Players.
For the truly daring, add on Tales from the Grave, a moonlit walking tour through St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church graveyard, where the departed whisper their stories among the stones.
Before or after your adventure, enjoy our FREE Fall Celebration at the Visitor Center, with seasonal fun, local shopping, and activities for all ages.

• Haunting Hour Performances: 2 pm, 3:30 pm, 5 pm, 6:30 pm, 8 pm

October 24: Merchant’s Association Trick or Treat
Bring the kids in costume for a night of candy and fun! Local Hillsborough businesses will be handing out free treats and goodies along Churton Street and beyond.

October 24: Halloween at the Burwell School Historic Site (6–8 pm)
A family-friendly evening filled with fun! Kids’ activities run from 6–7 pm, followed by costumed Halloween tours of the historic site from 7–8 pm.
October 24: Hillsborough Police Department Trunk or Treat (4–6 pm)
Visit the parking lot behind the Hillsborough Police Department, 127 N. Churton Street, for an evening of treats, kiddie rides, and safe Halloween fun. All pets must be leashed and well behaved.
This event began in 2017 to provide families with a safe alternative to trick-or-treating in the dark and continues to grow every year.
October 31: Halloween Last Fridays & Artwalk
Celebrate Hillsborough’s monthly tradition of art, culture, and community with a Halloween twist. Explore downtown galleries, enjoy live music and entertainment, and take in the festive spirit of Halloween night in Hillsborough.
